About this course

When someone dies, children take in far more than the adults around them realize, and they grieve in ways that look nothing like adult grief. In this course, grief educators Khris Ford and Paula Darcy draw on decades of work with bereaved families, and on their own losses, to show how children mourn across the preschool, elementary, and teen years, why anxiety rather than sadness usually leads, and why telling a child the truth is the surest path to their security. Counselors, pastoral workers, educators, and parents leave with concrete, usable guidance for accompanying a grieving child with presence, honesty, and steadiness.
