About this course

Most anxiety training teaches you to bring the number down. This course asks a different first question. When an anxious client makes a request that does not fit the protocol — in the case at the heart of this course, asking to leave the office and walk in a park — what is the whole person telling you? Using a single faculty case discussion, this course shows how the Catholic Christian Meta-Model of the Person reframes anxiety as an expression of the whole human being: a body that needs movement and rest, a creature made for beauty, someone whose distress may be pointing toward a real and unaddressed part of their life. You will leave able to hold symptom-reduction methods and a whole-person conceptualization together, so that technique serves the person instead of standing in for the work.

This is not a rejection of evidence-based methods. It is a frame that keeps the symptom inside the person.

Who this course is for

Counselors (clinicians seeking CE)

They hire it to feel more competent and less stuck with a specific kind of client — here, the anxious client who is not getting better and whose distress does not fit the protocol.

Also for Professional networks and diocesan / Catholic counseling associations.
